About Lesson
Emotions are powerful — but not enemies
Emotions are part of being human.
Even great leaders feel:
- fear
- anger
- frustration
- disappointment
The difference is how they respond.
Emotions carry information
Each emotion sends a message:
- Anger → something feels unfair
- Fear → something feels risky
- Sadness → something was lost
- Excitement → something matters
A leader listens to emotions before acting.
The leadership pause (expanded)
When emotions rise, leaders practice the Leadership Pause:
- Pause — stop yourself from reacting immediately
- Name — identify the feeling (“I feel angry”)
- Think — ask why you feel this way
- Choose — pick an action aligned with your values
This pause can prevent regret, conflict, and damage.
