About Lesson

Many people imagine leadership as being visible, powerful, or admired by others.
While recognition sometimes follows leadership, it is not where leadership begins.

Leadership begins with service — the willingness to use your abilities to improve a situation that affects others.

Service-based leadership means:

  • noticing what others overlook
  • acting when something needs improvement
  • taking responsibility even when it is inconvenient

Leaders who focus only on attention often lose purpose quickly.
Leaders who focus on contribution develop inner motivation, which lasts far longer than praise.

True leadership asks:

“What does this situation need?”
not
“What will make me look important?”
