About Lesson
It’s easy to want your child to succeed. But when encouragement becomes expectation, and hobbies become high-stakes, joy can fade.
🚩Signs of pressure (even when well-meaning):
- Asking about results more than enjoyment (“Did you win?” vs. “Did you have fun?”)
- Taking over their activity (“Let me fix that drawing…”)
- Linking love to achievement (“I’m proud because you got first place”)
✅ Healthy passion support sounds like:
- “What part did you enjoy most?”
- “Do you want me to help, or do you want space to explore?”
- “No matter how this turns out, I’m glad you’re trying something new.”
Real Life Example:
Your child is writing stories for fun. Instead of suggesting they “turn it into a book” or “enter a contest,” simply say:
“I love seeing how your imagination works. Want to read me a part?”
Let them own the pace and direction. That’s how lifelong interests grow.
