About Lesson

Learning Goals:

  • Define boundaries clearly, with examples.
  • Identify why boundaries matter in friendships, family, school, and online.
  • Begin recognizing your own limits and how to express them.

What Are Boundaries?

Boundaries are personal rules or limits we set to protect our time, energy, feelings, and bodies. They’re not walls to keep people out — they’re guidelines that help us feel safe, respected, and understood.

Think of a boundary like:

  • A “Do Not Disturb” sign on your door.
  • A personal shield in a video game.
  • A signal that says: “This is where I feel comfortable — please respect it.”

Everyone has different boundaries, and that’s okay. Some people love hugs. Others prefer high fives. Some are fine sharing passwords, others think that’s too personal. What matters is knowing your own boundaries and respecting others’.

🧩 Types of Boundaries

Boundary Type

Examples

Physical

“I’m not comfortable with hugs.” / “Please don’t touch my backpack.”

Emotional

“I’m not ready to talk about that right now.”

Time

“I need a break from the group chat to study.”

Digital

“Don’t share my messages or photos without permission.”

Mental

“I have a different opinion, and I’d like to explain.”

You’re not rude for having boundaries. You’re honest and brave.

💡 Real-Life Example:

You’re sitting at lunch, and a friend always touches your hair — even though you’ve told them not to. You feel awkward but annoyed.

Boundary phrase:

“Hey, I know you’re just being playful, but I really don’t like people touching my hair. Can we stop that?”

This isn’t dramatic or mean — it’s healthy self-respect.

🎮 Game Tie-In:

Minecraft Challenge: “Boundary Base”
Build a Minecraft base with labeled rooms or zones that reflect your personal boundaries.

Example signs:

  • “Quiet Zone: No loud yelling here.”
  • “Ask Before Entering.”
  • “Only friends allowed inside the chest room.”

You can even build a “Respawn Room” — a place where you recharge when your boundaries feel crossed.
