EmoXP: Level Up Your Feelings
About Lesson

Let’s say your teacher calls you out in front of everyone. Your heart starts pounding, and you just want to disappear. Or maybe someone makes fun of your clothes, and you snap and say something mean.

That’s your survival brain in action.

🧠 What’s Happening in Your Brain?

  • The amygdala (tiny part of your brain) is like an alarm bell. It senses danger — even if it’s emotional danger — and screams, “ACT NOW!”
  • The prefrontal cortex (your thinking brain) goes dim. That’s the part that helps with choices, thinking ahead, and staying calm.

This is called fight, flight, or freeze — and it’s your body’s way of keeping you safe.

⚔️ What It Might Look Like:

  • Fight: yelling, slamming doors, arguing, hitting
  • Flight: leaving the room, shutting people out, ghosting friends
  • Freeze: zoning out, going quiet, feeling stuck or numb

🔑 Key Point: These reactions aren’t bad — they’re natural. But they don’t always help in everyday life. That’s why we need tools to take back control.
